Zanesville City Council heard the first reading of an ordinance authorizing city officials to advertise for bids for an upcoming paving project.

Public Service Director Mike Sims said the street department will be working to replace deteriorating sections of road within Woodlawn Cemetery on Pershing Road.

Sims said the project is expected to cost about $38,000.

"It will just be various sections depending on the worst of the worst and we have about 600 tons of asphalt...
