A section of the Y-bridge will close for several hours Tuesday and continuing through Thursday.

The City of Zanesville Street Department said the 12'5 section of the Y-Bridge underpass will close Tuesday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The street department said the closure is due to work that needs done on the catch basin. Only the truck lane will be affected by the closure.

The work is weather permitting. If canceled work will take place April 23-25.

You may notice Zanesville's iconic Y-Bridge looking a little more floral than usual.

Today volunteers from the Muskingum Valley Garden Society and staff members from Timber Run Gardens planted flowers in baskets attached to lamp posts along the bridge.

An early morning accident on the Y-Bridge claims the life of a Zanesville man. Three Zanesville police officers are being recognized for their heroic efforts to try to save the man's life.

A tragic car accident on the Y-Bridge took the life of 28-year-old Ryan McCuen of Zanesville.

Zanesville police say that had several people call in and say a woman was attempting to jump off the Y-bridge.


Lt. Bill Shaw says it officers arrived at the Y-bridge around 8pm Monday night where a woman was threatening to jump off. A Zanesville policeman talked to the woman and eventually got close enough to grab her and pull her over.

She was taken to the hospital.

One person is taken to the hospital after a truck hit the railroad overpass by the Y-Bridge on Linden Avenue.
 

It happened around 3:15pm Wednesday afternoon.
