Every month, Z.A.A.P. celebrates a different artist and for July, the board is honoring eight new members of the art community. The artists featured specialize in mixed media, photography, word-working, oils, acrylic and water color paintings.

"It's quite a variety from a lot of new people that maybe the community hasn't seen yet this year," said Gary Graham, a member of Z.A.A.P.'s Art Gallery.

The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project- more commonly known as Z.A.A.P will feature Zanesville Artist and Native Rebecca Terrible.

Growing-up in the area Terrible came to recognize and love the familiar landscape of Ohio trees.

"They're strong and beautiful and changeable," said Terrible. "I love the trees of fall, and the spring tree. They're permanent they are something you can depend on."

Z.A.A.P. Art Gallery is displaying a husband-wife duo as this month's featured artists.

Jaye Hayes doesn't call himself an artist. Instead he says what he does is a hobby, one he's been doing for 40 years.

"I liked drawing as a young fella. And when I was about 19 my dad got a leather kit and I found it was a really interesting medium so I developed my own style," says Hayes.
