The city of Zanesville is opening bids for interested parties to purchase a historic downtown building.

A building once a hub for passengers traveling from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and St. Louis sits empty in downtown Zanesville.

The Zanesville Community Improvement Corporation would like to change that. From now until November 25 they'll be accepting proposals from those that would like to renovate the historic building and turn it into a property that will increase economic development in the downtown.

The Zanesville Community Improvement Corporation met Wednesday afternoon at the Mayor's Office to discuss the future of two properties in Zanesville.

The Zanesville Community Improvement Corporation has approved an one year supplemental lease for the United States Army Reserve

At Wednesday's meeting, the board voted to approve the lease for the property at 1510 Moxahala Avenue in Zanesville.

Public Service Director Mike Sims said the property was first leased to the Army Reserve in 1946 for economic development purposes.
