A vacant home is damaged after a fire Tuesday evening.
It happened around 8:10 p.m. at 119 Pierce Street.
Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Burley says the source of the fire is unknown at this time.
According to scanner traffic, a white male was seen walking from the scene of the fire. Lt. Tony Coury of the Zanesville Police Department says they are looking for the man, but aren't sure if he is connected with the fire.
The city of Zanesville is in a budget crunch and Thursday the Public Safety Committee met to discuss cutbacks at the police and fire departments.
The Zanesville Police Department has to trim around $150,000 off its budget from last year. Chief Eric Lambes said they are cutting back on overtime, going back to a cheaper paint scheme on their vehicles and they will not be filling two open positions.

A family is left homeless on this cold winter night after a fire destroyed their home.
It happened around 4 p.m. at 335 Jordan Avenue in Zanesville.
"When we arrived, we did find a fire coming from the front room through one window. It was starting to roll out of the window onto the front porch. We made entry, knocked the fire down fairly quickly, and conducted a primary search, " says Zanesville Fire Department Captain Kevin Thomas.
The Zanesville Fire Deparment is ruling Wednesday's fire on Bailey Street as suspicious.
The fire started in the rear of the home at 372 Bailey Street around 9 PM. Kim Ware and her son Ryan Viney, who live in the house, were not home at the time of the fire. A fire at a Bailey Street home is being considered suspicious by the Zanesville Fire Department.
Crews from the department were called to 372 Bailey Street around 9pm Wednesday night, when flames were reported coming from the back of the home.
Chief Dave Lacy says the fire caused $30,000 in damage and is still being investigated. Chief Lacy says he's unsure if anyone was home at the time fire.
The Zanesville Fire Department is praising the efforts of a four-year-old boy who it says saved the lives of his parents and himself.
Crews were called into battle a fire just before four a.m. at 742 Westbourne Avenue.
