Zanesville Police were called to the 700 block of Echo Avenue late Sunday afternoon after witnesses say a man fired multiple shots into the air in the direction of a woman and her children.

Witnesses say the alleged gunman then retreated into his house, and fled into a garage behind the house.

Neighbors watched on as police searched both the house and garage-- but police were unable to locate the suspect in either location.

A man is taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in Zanesville.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Muskingum and Luck Avenues.

According to Zanesville Police Officers, a man was riding a bicycle west on Muskingum Avenue when he collided with a Jeep heading north on Luck Avenue.

Authorities say the bicyclist ran a stop sign and will likely be cited. He was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital and officers...

A car caught fire following a crash Wednesday evening in Zanesville.

It happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Marietta Street.

According to Sgt. Chris Phipps, the vehicle was headed south bound on Wayne Avenue when it veered off the side of the road and struck a light pole.

Witnesses of the accident who reported the crash said the driver and passenger fled the scene.

The Zanesville Police Department is warning students and parents about the consequences of underage drinking.

Last weekend ten Zanesville High School athletes were caught drinking at parties, and Director of Student Services Kevin Appleman said the students were suspended from their sports for 20 to 50 percent of their games.  Police Chief Eric Lambes said the juveniles are responsible for their behavior, but parents should be aware of what can happen if their child throws a house...

The Zanesville Police Department is investigating an aggravated burglary.

It happened around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday at 1643 Norwood Boulevard.  Lieutenant Tony Coury said four males wearing masks broke down the front door of the home.  The female homeowner fired shots and told police she struck one of the males.

All four men fled the scene and the woman was not injured.  Coury said a separate call came in about ten minutes later regarding a gunshot trauma victim....

A Zanesville police officer is turning in his badge after 25 years of dedicated service.

On Thursday, Steve Jones was escorted in the Zanesville Police Department's new squad vehicle to his retirement party in the municipal courtroom.

The Zanesville Police Department is searching for a man who robbed a Papa John's at gunpoint Thursday night.

According to Lt. Tony Coury, the robbery occurred at 1434 Maple Avenue shortly before 10 p.m.

Lt. Coury says a man walked into the store with a firearm and demanded cash. Once the clerk handed over the money the suspect fled on foot.

A Muskingum County Sheriff's Office K-9 was brought in and was able to track the suspect to Van Horn Avenue before the trail was lost...

The Zanesville Police Department is investigating an incident involving a trash bag containing materials used to make methamphetamines.

Police said a man found the trash bag just before 8 a.m. on Sunday in the road outside of his home on Blue Avenue.

Plastic bottles, empty Sudafed wrappers and a can of starting fluid were among the items inside the bag.

Officers closed Blue Avenue between Taylor and Somers Streets as safety personnel inspected the area.

Reports of purse snatching are increasing in Zanesville.

Zanesville Police Chief Eric Lambes said the most recent incidents have occurred at the Pick n' Save on Howard Street and Krogers on Maple Avenue.

Bystanders at a Zanesville grocery store help police nab a robbery suspect authorities say injured two women.

According to Lt. Tony Coury with the Zanesville Police Department, a man grabbed a woman's purse in the parking lot of the Pick-N-Save on Howard Street around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon. Coury says in the struggle for the purse the victim was injured.
