The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal accident.
According to the patrol, the crash happened on Main Street at Dresden Road in Jefferson Township around 1:40 AM on Sunday. 36-year-old Richard Reed of Pleasant City was driving eastbound on Main Street when he failed to negotiate a turn and went over an embankment.

The numbers are in following the State Highway Patrols amped-up enforcement during the holiday weekend.
During the New Year's Eve holiday, stretching from December 30th through January 2nd the State Highway Patrol in Muskingum County made a total of 180 traffic stops, 80 of which resulted in enforcement action and three resulting in OVI arrests.

The State Highway Patrol is hoping to round out the year with a safe holiday weekend.
Sergeant Clark Felix said drivers can expect to see extra patrol on the roads starting Saturday.
"We'll see some increase in traffic probably starting tomorrow afternoon with travelers coming in to visit family," said Felix. "There will also be a little more partying with more bar traffic and more impaired drivers."
One of the busiest travel weekends of the year was a safe one in southeastern Ohio.
