Our area could gets it first taste of snow later this week and the State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to be safe on the roadway since its the holiday season.

Between December 2011 and March 2012 there were over 15,000 traffic crashes in Ohio, twenty-seven of which were fatal and over 4,000 injuries. Sergeant Clark Felix of the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the common factor in all those crashes was speed.

Troopers are investigating a rollover crash Thursday evening in East Fultonham.

According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, around 9 p.m. a woman lost control of her vehicle on Fultonrose Road near the intersection of Tignor Road.

No other vehicles were involved and the woman was not injured.

Troopers believe alcohol may be factor in the accident. No other details were available at this time. The accident remains under investigation.

A man locked himself in a Muskingum County gas station following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, shortly before 1:30 p.m. troopers pulled a car over on U.S. 40 in Hopewell Township, because it had no front license plate.

When the car stopped a passenger, 43-year-old Bradley Sheppard of Hopewell, walked to a nearby gas station and locked himself in a storage room in the basement.

The numbers are in and there's no arguing a seatbelt will safe your life.

According to data released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol more than 60% of people killed on Ohio roadways last year were not wearing their seatbelt.

One man is sent to the hospital following a motorcycle crash on State Route 555.

It happened around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Lighthouse Inn in South Zanesville. According to Trooper Jeff Fowler with the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, a motorcyclist on a borrowed Harley Davidson crashed while traveling northbound.

A 21-year-old Roseville woman was taken to the hospital following an accident Friday evening.

According to Trooper Trenas Weaver with the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, Sydney Danison was driving near 2030 Adamsville Road in Washington Township when she lost control around a corner.

Danison's car went of the left side of the road, hit a mailbox, a boulder and drove into a flower bed.

Authorities are on the search for a driver who wrecked their car in Harrison Township and then fled on foot.

According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday near 750 Fattler Ridge Road, a Ford Ranger pick-up truck swerved off the right side of the road, went back onto the road and off the left side of a roadway striking trees and a gas line.

A Columbus man learned his fate Monday for causing a crash that killed a Zanesville man.

Monday in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Fleegle sentenced 22-year-old Anthony Troiano to a total of four years in prison. Troiano had pled guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.

A truck went crashing into a Newton Township business Friday evening injuring one person.

Shortly after 7 p.m. the pick-up backed into White Cottage Auto Electric at 5165 Limestone Valley Road.

"The driver was recklessly backing up on Limestone Valley Road, lost control and went into this private parking lot striking a building," says Trooper Troy Hale, Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol.
