At the Zanesville City Council meeting Mayor Howard Zwelling announced the city has a one million dollar budget shortfall.

With income tax collection down the city will need to tighten its belt and cut some corners. To do that he is creating a special committee.

"We are putting together a committee and that will be Mike Sims, Bob Branford, Dale Rains and myself. We are going to meet twice a week and review all purchase requisitions," says Mayor Zwelling....

Zanesville Mayor, Howard Zwelling, says the red light cameras in Heath might have been well-intended by the city, but it turned into something very controversial.

He says residents may have felt differently about the issue if the city had gone about things another way.

"If they would have made the public aware, had an opportunity for a public hearing, announced exactly where the cameras were-the location of the cameras in advance, and maybe getting three or four tickets...

Groundbreaking for the new Zanesville Water Treatment Plant is underway.

Local officials met this morning to mark an important part of the two-year project that they say has been a long time coming, and Mayor Howard Zwelling says it is a much-needed project.

"From day one, when I took office, i came out here and looked over the water plant. The electrical panel was frightening, and that could go down at any time. We would have a crisis on our hands, " says Zwelling....

Zanesville city residents may see an increase in their water bill by March of next year.

Today the Ways and Means Committee discussed options to help fund a $1.9 million engineering inspection cost for the new water plant.

"The issue that came up was whether to borrow more in order to delay a rate increase, where more interest would be paid by the city or borrow less, which would make the rate increase sooner," said Public Service Director Mike Sims.

A Zanesville man charged in connection with a shooting last June appeared in Municipal Court Wednesday morning.

20-year-old Eric Huffman entered a not guilty plea to a charge of negligent homicide.

According to the City Prosecutor's office, Huffman faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if found guilty.

The charge stems from a shooting on Ridge Avenue in June where police say Stacy Tuttle suffered a gun shot wound to the chest.

Its been a long time coming in the minds of some blue devils mind.

Many around zanesville wanted the Blue Devils to join the E.C.O.L. before the S.E.O.A.L. well today it was announced that the Blue Devils will become a memeber of the East Central Ohio League to atone for that mistake.

This was confirmed by league commisoner John Neighbor earlier today. The Devils won't start ecol play until the 2012-2013 academic year.
