A hit and run accident downtown this afternoon closed the intersection of 6th and Main Street for about a half hour.

The accident happened around 3:00 PM. The Zanesville Police Department says they are unsure how the accident occured, but they are looking for the driver of the pick-up truck who fled the scene. The female driver of the Honda Civic was taken to Good Samaritian Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On a relatively slow Monday night, there were some impressive performances from area teams. The Sheridan Generals started strong against the Johnstown Johnnies, and never looked back. Doug Fisher's girls keeping the pedal on the floor, winning 64-24. Kristy Swinehart leading all scorers with 19 points, including the Generals' first 9. Tis the season for holiday celebrations.

Downtown Zanesville is preparing for many events throughout the month of December. Wednesday the Festival of Trees and Miracle on Main Street start the holidays downtown.

The Tri-Valley Lady Dawgs didn't lose a single game in the regular season last year. This season, it starts with more of the same. The West Holmes Lady Knights came to the Dawg House, and the Division II Regional Final qualifiers a year ago left with a 45-30 loss. The Akron-bound lady dawgs did the lions share of the scoring, as Hanna Luburgh and Carly Young combined for 25 points.

About 200 boy scouts and their families bundled up against the wintry weather today to visit ten churches throughout Zanesville.

It's all apart of the kickoff for the Boy Scouts of America's 100th birthday celebration.

At the Zanesville City Council meeting Mayor Howard Zwelling announced the city has a one million dollar budget shortfall.

With income tax collection down the city will need to tighten its belt and cut some corners. To do that he is creating a special committee.

"We are putting together a committee and that will be Mike Sims, Bob Branford, Dale Rains and myself. We are going to meet twice a week and review all purchase requisitions," says Mayor Zwelling....
