After leaving the news business for six years to start a family, Carolyn Haley-Fleegle returned to WHIZ-TV in April, 2006 to anchor LIVE AT NOON.
Before leaving the station, Carolyn co-anchored the 6 o’clock news and anchored the news at 11 for seven years.
An Ohio native, Carolyn grew up in Kettering, a suburb of Dayton. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green,
Ohio where she obtained a degree in Communications.
Carolyn is married to Jay, a Zanesville native, and has two sons, Christian and Connor.
Nicole Medaugh
News Reporter
Nichole Medaugh is a native to southeastern Ohio growing up in Corning. In 2005 she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication
from Waynesburg College, emphasizing in both Sports Broadcasting/Sports Information and Journalism.
Currently she anchors the WHIZ Morning News program, Sunrise in Southeastern Ohio and reports three days a week.
Nichole joined WHIZ in 2000 working as an intern, while attending high school at Bishop Rosecrans.
In 2005 she joined the news staff on a full time basis as a photojournalist and sports reporter, before fully committing to news as a reporter.
As a student at Waynesburg Nichole held the position of Sports Director of WCYJ-FM her senior year,
calling Yellow Jacket basketball games and high school football. She also was sports anchor for a weekly newscast on
WC-TV and a contributing reporter to College Broadcast Incorporated Best Radio Newscast, “Greene County Matters.”
She was also a proud writer for the Waynesburg College Yellow Jacket newspaper.
Nichole has known she’s wanted to be in broadcasting since she was little often pretending to run a radio/television
station from her room after meeting announcer Gary Thorne. She chose broadcasting because of a love of finding out what is important to the people
she interviews and to the area she’s covering.
She’s an avid hockey fan routing for the St. Louis Blues and at times the Columbus Blue Jackets. Nichole resides in Zanesville
with her cat Ellie and often travels south to visit her parents in Corning and extended family in New Lexington.
Jacqueline Sprague

Jacqueline Sprague joined the WHIZ-TV news team in October 2006. She grew
up in
Cincinnati, Ohio, with her parents and younger siblings, Rachel and Sam.
After growing up about two hours west of Zanesville, she graduated Cum Laude
from
Miami University in Oxford with a degree in mass communication.
While attending college, Jacqueline was an anchor, reporter, and producer
for
MUTV, the cable station on campus. She also had a sports show called The
Sports
Reporters on Miami Sports Network and the campus radio station WMSR and was
a
sidelines reporter for the college newspaper, The Miami Student. In
addition,
she was an active member of the National Communications Honorary Lambda Pi
Eta.
Jacqueline gained valuable experience through her internships at WCPO
Channel 9
and WXIX Fox 19 in Cincinnati.
When she's not working, Jacqueline loves to spend time with family and
friends.
She also enjoys playing and watching sports. Her favorite teams are the UC
Bearcats, Miami Redhawks, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and, of
course,
the Cincinnati Bengals! WHO-DEY!
Jacqueline is excited to be a part of the WHIZ team and provide Closer to
Home
coverage and looks forward to getting to know the Zanesville community!

Kelly Gilmartin
News Reporter
Kelly Gilmartin grew up in Hubbard, Ohio a suburb of Youngstown. She joined
the
WHIZ -TV news team in March 2007 after graduating from The Ohio State
University.
Kelly received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism graduating magna cum laude.
Her
majors were Public Affairs Journalism and Mass Communication with an
emphasis in
social issues.
While attending college, Kelly was a reporter and anchor for Buckeye TV,
Ohio
State's student-run television station and was also a member of The Lantern,
OSU's newspaper. She interned in 2006 at Fox News Channel in New York City
working at On the Record with Greta Van Susteren. In 2005 Kelly interned at
WYTV
Channel 33, an ABC affiliate in Youngstown. Additionally, in 2004 she
interned at
Cumulus Broadcasting where she worked for eight Youngstown area radio
stations.
When Kelly's not working she enjoys cheering on the Buckeyes in whatever
sport is
currently in season. She also cheers for the Cleveland Browns and firmly
believes
that this year is their year to win the Superbowl.

Chris Cerenelli
News Reporter
Chris joined the WHIZ news team in February 2008 as a weekend weather anchor and reporter. He is a graduate of the New Century Journalism Program at Belmont University in Nashville, TN after studying at Youngstown State University. During Chris' time in Tennessee, he gained forecasting experience interning at WZTV and top-rated WSMV before moving to an associate producer position at WSMV in 2007. He learned from some of the most polished journalists in the country while there. Prior forecasting experience came via an internship at WYTV in Youngstown in 2004, as well as 4 seasons as a media storm chaser for WKBN in Youngstown.
At YSU, Chris was a County Correspondent for the Warren Tribune Chronicle where he covered everything from city politics to feature writing.
In Chris' spare time, he loves to play golf, follow football (he has friends playing college ball all over the state!), playing and singing music, and spending time with friends. Chris states "I'm thrilled to start my career in Zanesville; I look forward to getting to know the community and bringing you the best news product I can produce!"
