Doug Pickrell Director of TV Sales Doug joined the WHIZ-TV sales team as an Account Executive in 1991. A graduate of Ohio University, Doug brought with him 10 years of experience, operating an in-house advertising agency plus a marketing, sales and merchandising background with a major consumer product company. While in college, he was a D.J., worked as a sports play-by-play announcer, did freelance voicework and was the Sales Manager for his college radio station. Doug was named WHIZ-TV Sales Manager in 1996. He and his wife Star, live in Zanesville with their three children, Austin, Jared and Meredith. He enjoys landscaping, traveling with his family and occasionally some farming. Tom Strock Senior Account Executive Tom joined the WHIZ-TV sales team in the mid 1980s. A graduate of Miami University with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Tom brought with him an extensive broadcast background: he worked in radio news in Southwestern Ohio, and did freelance voicework for radio and television stations in the Youngstown, Ohio market where he also sold cable television advertising. While in college, Tom hosted a public radio morning magazine program, worked as a radio news "stringer" for multiple stations in the region, and taught classes in broadcast announcing. "I've always considered myself more of an investment broker than a salesman," says Tom, "Investing in advertising pays phenomenal returns to businesses." Tom and his wife, Ginny, live in Nashport with their two sons, Chip and Kirt. Between his sons' basketball games, Tom can be found rockscaping in his yard, walleye fishing, arrowhead hunting, or praising his wife for her incredible tolerance. . Jacque McClelland Account Executive Jacque McClelland joined WHIZ in 1998 as the receptionist and has been in the Television Sales Department since 1999. Jacque is a Maysville High School graduate and attended Guernsey Noble Career Center and received certification as a Dental Assistant. Previously, Jacque was employed in a Dental office, and also as a retail assistant manager. In addition to WHIZ-TV Jacque is an active sales consultant for Bag Daddy and was ranked number 6 of 190 sales representatives during first quarter of 2006. Jacque takes great pride in the relationships and trust that she has developed with her clients and looks forward to the continued growth and success of their business. Jacque enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 active children. She enjoys bowling in the Sunday Night League, watching NASCAR (go Tony Stewart) and playing poker. Sheila Blake Account Executive Sheila Blake started her career at WHIZ as the Community Service Coordinator in April, 2001 and moved into the television sales department in 2002. Her dual Associate Degrees from Muskingum Area Technical College in Multi Media and Marketing Management make her a tremendous asset to her clients in both the development and implementation of their marketing plans. Prior to joining WHIZ Sheila worked as a retail associate for The Longaberger Company as well as being a Basket Consultant, making her an insightful asset to retail, corporate, and small business clients. Sheila finds that meeting people, developing relationships, and working for her many clients is a very fulfilling occupation. She derives particular satisfaction from the numerous successful promotional campaigns she has developed. Sheila enjoys spending time with her 4 children, playing trumpet in the Simcox Big Band, riding her motorcycle, and watching OSU football and Duke Basketball. Don Dogwiler Account Executive Don joined the WHIZ-TV sales team in 2000. With over 40 years of marketing, advertising and retail consulting experience, Don knows how to help make a business successful! Through his experience, Don has gained tremendous insight into helping small businesses prosper. Don and his wife Sherry have been married since 1970 and have two grown children Toby and Laurel, plus two beautiful grand children. Don enjoys helping children through his work at Big Brothers and playing Santa at Christmas. Rick Staley Account Executive Rick Staley was born right here in Zanesville, Ohio, graduated from Philo High School and boosts a Bachelor of Science in Journalism Degree from Ohio University at Athens in 1970. He started his media sales and management career for a daily newspaper in Akron, Ohio, then went with a national publishing company in Morristown, NJ, then Detroit, Michigan, Anderson, South Carolina and back to Zanesville. This little jaunt took close to 18 years. He often said, early in his teens, that he wanted to get away from Zanesville, but it was really the only town he wanted to get back to, once he got traveling, and the promotions resulting from the willingness to travel, out of his system. The last twenty-some years have been spent working in Zanesville. The farthest that he may travel now, may be Cleveland, St. Clairesville or Columbus, Ohio, and that's the way he says he wants it. Rick says he likes working with the great people of Southeastern Ohio. And further states that he doesn’t believe you can find a nicer, more family-type atmosphere to work in then for the WHIZ Media Group right here in Zanesville, Ohio. On the personal side, Rick is married to his wife of thirteen years, Rachel, and though they have no children, Rick has three children from a former marriage and four grandchildren. In his "spare" time, he indulges in real estate investing; is a licensed real estate agent and enjoys calling western square dances and dabs in pen and pencil drawing also. Danny Maxwell Marketing Director Danny joined the WHIZ-TV Marketing Department in 2004. Danny graduated from Bishop Rosecrans High School and then received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Major in Marketing from The University of Dayton. He came to WHIZ after 2 years of directing the marketing efforts at a local fitness facility. Prior to that, Danny was working towards a career in market research for one of the nations largest companies (The United States Postal Service). Danny likes to embrace the spirit in both business and in life, that there is no best -- only better. Danny was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio where he currently resides with his wife Marianne and daughter Avery (2) and (?). He is active in his church and in his spare time he loves working in the community and with kids. He currently coaches a number of youth soccer teams throughout the year and plays a little soccer himself when he can. He also has a passion for Notre Dame Football and enjoys a good game of cards.
