Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office to Sell 4 Guns

by Emily Baird on July 27, 2009

The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office is preparing legal documents and getting one last appraisal in order before selling four Thompson sub-machine guns.

Sheriff Mike McCauley says his office doesn’t really want to sell the guns, but he says his office needs equipment for the safety of the community. McCauley says the money will be used to purchase new cruisers for deputies.

The sale of the four guns will go through a seal bid. McCauley says anyone who can legally possess a gun is eligible to buy them.

He estimates the cost of each gun will run between 22 and 25 thousand dollars.
