With the 4th of July quickly approaching preparation for the annual Stars and Stripes on the River is in motion.
The ‘Old Boy Bikers’ plan to make their first year teaming up with the Zanesville Jaycees a success by adding their own touch to the celebrations at Zane’s Landing Park.
“This year the Jaycees invited us in here just to add a little flair to the deal,” said Event Organizer, Ken Forsythe. “This year we’re the ‘Old Boy Bikers,’ that’s are organization, we’re going to have a $100 drawling every 20 minutes 6:00 until the fire works go off, $1,000 poker run that afternoon, and we are going to be giving away bicycles to the kids.”
The early events are expected to bring in a larger crowd than in past years. Events will include live entertainment, vendors and of course fireworks.
“They can expect a quality good time that night, as far as the money give away and the bicycle give away,” Forsythe says. “There a parade that night too at 7:00 up town, so I’m sure there’s going to be a huge crowd down here that night.”
The event will begin with live entertainment on Friday and continue through to the 4th of July, festivities beginning at 6:00p.m. And wrapping up with fireworks at about 9:30.
There is still a need for bicycle donations. Ken Forsthe can be contacted at 740-319-0853.
