Zanesville Mayor Howard Zwelling is appointing a temporary replacement to the position of City Treasurer.

The position became vacant when the former City Treasurer, Walter "Butch" Norris, announced his retirement. His last day is today.

So, Swelling appointed Paul DuBeck Jr. this morning.

"I’m very excited that everybody’s showing the confidence to appoint me temporarily. I just-we’ll see what happens after this, " says Dubeck Jr.

The appointment only lasts for five days, but Zwelling says he thinks DuBeck is the man for the job.

"He is very good at what he does, and i think he would make a fine Treasurer for the city of Zanesville, " says Zwelling.

The Democratic Central Committee will hold a meeting next Monday at 7 p.m. to find who will hold Norris’ remaining two-year term permanently.
