The Zanesville Police Department says a man was caught red-handed after burglarizing an area business.

According to Lt. Bill Shaw, around 1:30 Monday morning police received a call of a man in a pick-up truck dragging a large wooden crate behind the vehicle down Underwood Street.

When police stopped the man they found a mower valued at $8,000 inside the crate.

Officers tracked wood splinters and scratches on the pavement and found the mower was stolen from American Pride on Maple Avenue.

The man is being held in the Zanesville City Jail. His name will be released once he is formally charged with grand theft.
