Traffic back-ups on Maple Avenue may make traveling a little more hectic these days.
But, Kate Stickle of the Ohio Department of Transportation says says the Muskingum – 60 Safety Project may seem like a hassle right now, but the wait will be worth it.
“Businesses and drivers are very frustrated right now, which is understandable,” said Stickle. “It’s very important to remember when this construction is finished. We will have a much better and improved roadway for safety and visibility.”
Stickle says it is important for motorists to watch out for the construction areas.
“Right now you just have to make sure you use caution when you use a route, make sure you are aware of your surroundings,” said Stickle. “And to travel the roadway safe and understand there are going to be backups and a long time wait, but in the end, your taxpayer’s dollars are at work.”
Stickle says the signals should be completed by next week.
She says the concrete medians, islands, and handicap accessible sidewalks are being worked on now.
Stickle says the project is still on track and it should be completed by the end of the month.
