Cooler, October-like temperatures are exactly what greeted people at this year’s Oktoberfest in downtown Zanesville. Well, that and a little rain, but those attending didn’t really seem to mind it.
The Buckeyes were playing on the big screen, there was beer, and of course, some german cuisine.
Rittberger Meats was serving up wieners, bratwursts, and something new this year-beer rocks.
“The Chinese have an egg roll, the Mexicans have a burrito, and the Germans have what they call a beer rock-or some people make a general name for it, which is a meat bag, ” says Rittberger.
Rittberger says the beer rocks look like a roll but are filled with meat, cabbage, and green peppers.
Scott and Linda Leach came prepared with sweatshirts and an umbrella. They say they were out today to support the community and those putting on the event.
“I was hoping for a better turnout, but the weather kind of held everybody off-but we’re enjoying it. I had never been to one. So, I wanted to come down and see what it was all about, ” say Scott and Linda Leach.
They say they were really looking forward to hearing some polka music later in the night.
