Bow hunting season kicks off next Saturday and if you are interested in the outdoors the Muskingum County Fairgrounds is the place to be.
The Muskingum Valley Outdoor Show is taking over the fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday. In attendance is a variety of different outdoor vendors.
“Here in Southeastern Ohio, this is a prime opportunity to see what we have in Southeastern Ohio all in one place. You can talk to the vendors, they are professionals in their field from hunting, fishing, camping, hiking outdoor equipment and so on,” tells Robert Loewendick, a freelance outdoor writer.
One of the many groups taking part in the outdoor show is the ‘Farmers and Hunters Feeding The Hungry’. The group takes deer killed by hunters and processes it at no cost to give to food pantries or soup kitchens. Last year the group provided over 200,000 meals.
“Right now the times are really tough a lot of people are losing their jobs, people can’t pay mortgages, you know, and if you pay your mortgage you can’t buy food and in the situation with farmers and hunters they kind of help out a little bit and they take a little bit of the burden off people who can’t afford that,” says Tony Goodrich, the Chapter Coordinator.
Farmers and Hunters Feeding The Hungry held a benefit Saturday night at the fairgrounds to raise money for the group.
The Muskingum Valley Outdoor Show will run Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM til 5 PM at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.
