Praying for Good Start to Year

The start of a new school year can be exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time.

So, six local school districts came together tonight at New Hope Church in Zanesville to pray for students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

New Hope Church Youth Pastor, Adam King, who is also a high school science teacher at Maysville, says it’s the first ever county-wide effort to pump students up to go back to school. He says now-a-days students face adversity.

“Some of them really want to go back to school because maybe a home life that they have. Some of them don’t want to go back to school because they want nothing to do with…They think it’s a lot of kids will call it a prison, or it’s just boring or the same things over and over again, ” says King.

King says he hopes the gathering will put a different kind of perspective on going to school.

“If you look at school in a spiritual sense-as a place where kids can reach their friends, ” says King.

Tri-Valley, Philo, John Glenn, West Muskingum, Maysville, and Zanesville school districts all took part in the gathering.

King says this back to school event is a starting point for the community, and he says he hopes to continue it in the future. He says he wants to change locations every year too to get more school districts involved.
