US 22 motorcycle accident claims life of woman

One person is dead after Friday morning’s motorcycle collision near US 22.

It happened when a Harley Davidson motorcycle, carrying two people collided with a dump truck.

According to the Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol, Jason Springer of Pataskala was driving the motorcycle with passenger Lisa Evans of Canal Winchester. Kenneth Nichols of Newark was driving behind them, when Springer tried to turn left onto Wesley Chapel Road as Nichols attempted to pass, but instead struck the motorcycle, ejecting both passengers.

“Our medic was the first unit on scene and found two patients there. There was a motorcycle that was struck into a dump truck, ” says Newton Township Firefighter/Paramedic Josh Bryan.

Evans was transported by Med Flight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where she was pronounced dead.

Springer was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Neither wore helmets.

Nichols was not injured.

The crash is now under investigation.
