A motorcycle driver and passenger are in the hospital tonight after a two vehicle accident in Perry County.
It happened around 11 a.m. near the intersection of US 22 and Wesley Chapel Road. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Newton Township Fire Department, and Community Ambulance responded to the incident.
“Our medic was the first unit on scene and found two patients there. There was a motorcycle that was struck into a dump truck, ” says Newton Township Firefighter/Paramedic Josh Bryan.
The accident left debris all across US 22, forcing it to be shut down for a few hours. Bryan says that wasn’t the only activity going on in the area though.
“There was a lot of road construction crews in the area. So, getting to the scene was a little bit of a factor, but we were able to stabilize the incident and transport the people where they needed to be, ” says Bryan.
The motorcycle driver was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital while the passenger was MedFlighted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
