211 Call Center Helping Direct Utility Questions

The United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan counties says the community is utilizing its 2-1-1 Calling Center.

2-1-1 Call Center Manager, Audrey Foster, says call volume was around 250 back in May and June and has since jumped to between 700 and 800 calls.

“That’s about three times more than before. We’re managing the call fine, and of course, they’re the different times of the month that they would come in a little bit heavier and then depending on the needs, ” says Foster.

Foster says she expects more people to pick up the phone and dial 2-1-1 during this fall season.

“As soon as the cold weather hits, you’re hearing from folks who really do need assistance with the electric or the gas, ” says Foster.

Foster says once your call comes in, the person taking care of you will access the call center’s database to figure out who has funding and who you need to contact for help.
