Organizers of one local even hope you’ll bring your appetite and sip some soup this weekend.
It’s time for the Souper Bowl Luncheon, a simple meal to meet basic needs. By purchasing a ticket you’ll not only get your choice of four different soups, you’ll be helping six non-profit organizations in our community. Last year the fundraiser has its best year raising $10,500.
Co-Chair of the Souper Bowl Marcy White said, “One thing we want to stress is for people to come out. It’s the people in our community that make this a success. Last year we served 902 people this year we want to serve 1,000.”
And for those on the go there’s a take-out option.
“So many people are so busy doing different things that it’s an opportunity to participate in our party lunch and then go ahead and do whatever they do on Sunday afternoon,” said White.
Included in the meal is a hot dog, coney, or sloppy joe, homemade cookies, apple and drink. If you want to fill your stomach the Souper Bowl takes place Sunday at the Center for Seniors from 10am-2pm. Tickets are $5 in advance, $6 at the door for adults, children under 12 eat for $4. Tickets can be purchased at and of the participating churches, the Muskingum County Center for Seniors, Eastside Community Ministry and Salvation Army.
