Cancer Benefit on the East Pike

One local woman is holding an event to help benefit her friend and others throughout the community who are battling cancer.

Susie’s Favorite’s Owner, Susie Dodson, says her friend was diagnosed with breast cancer back in January.

"And she’s doing very well, very well. She’s still going through radiation, but she’s doing really well, " says Dodson.

Dodson has held Susie’s FallFest and Benefit for a few years, each helping out a different organization, including the Animal Shelter, the Salvation Army, and the Miracle League.

This year, Dodson says all the proceeds will go to the Cancer Concern Coalition.

"I think cancer has touched all of us. There’s some family member, friend, and we are pleading for your help. I think it’s a great cause, and again, the money will stay in our community, " says Dodson.

Susie’s FallFest and Benefit will take place Saturday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. outside Susie’s Favorites.

Dodson says there will be food, bluegrass music, and a raffle for people to enjoy.
