Friends of Chuckie Murrey, the man who died from several bee stings in August, are holding a benefit banquet for his family. Friends say Chuckie was a family man with a big heart and they hope to raise around $20,000 for the family.
"It is a benefit to raise money for the family, with there being no insurance we want to do the best we can to get as much money raised for them, to help cover any cost that she (Chuckie’s wife) has," says Michelle Cardiel a friend of the Murrey family.
Chuckie is the father of two girls ages 14 and 9 and Cardiel says his wife is just taking each day as it comes.
"His wife she is such a strong person, it is just a day to day thing, you know some days are better than others," tells Cardiel.
The benefit banquet will be October 21st at the VFW Building at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds starting at 5 pm. Cardiel says the benefit is still looking for donations from local businesses. There will be a spaghetti dinner at 7 pm, silent auction, children’s games and a raffle. Some of the items being raffled off are guns, chainsaws, and OSU apparel. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at T & K Guns, Rittberger Meats and B & B Grocery.
The family says they cannot thank the community enough for all the support they have received.
