It is National Fire Prevention Week and to celebrate the New Concord Fire Department invited the community out to tour the facilities and view the equipment. Tonight’s event is an extension of the educational programs the fire department is giving in local elementary schools.
"We make bags up of lots of different things (for the elementary schools) and we always have an open house just to show the people who support us the equipment and show them what we are doing, how we are spending their tax money, things like that," says Fire Chief Brent Gates of the New Concord Fire Department.
Parents lined up for the free child ID cards being made by the Muskingum County Sheriff. The motto for National Fire Prevention Week is "Stay Fire Smart! Don’t Get Burned".
