The countdown to Christmas is a little more than two months away, but one local organization is already prepping for the holiday season.

“It’s that time of the season again already. It’s hard to believe that it’s coming around, and the way the weather is, it feels like it too, ” says Christmas Coordinator, Joyce Krouskoupf.

The Salvation Army will be accepting applications for Christmas food baskets and children’s toys in Zanesville from October 26th through the 30th. Krouskoupf says you can come into the office Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

But the Salvation Army doesn’t just service Muskingum County. It will be accepting applications in Perry County on November 3rd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on High Street in New Lexington, and it will be accepting applications in Morgan County on November 4th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Malta United Methodist Church on Main Street in Malta.

“With the way the economy is, you know, we think there’s a lot more that’s going to need help this year. So, we want to be able to serve them, ” says Krouskoupf.

Krouskoupf says the Salvation Army serviced more than 16 hundred local families last year.

She says if anyone would like to donate toys or volunteer to help during the Christmas season, contact the Salvation Army at 740-452-8350.
