Senior Citizens Enjoy Pampering and Luncheon

Around 50 senior citizens were treated to a very special day by students at the Mid East Career Center.

Cosmetology students gave manicures while the restaurant operations students prepared a delicious lunch. Teachers say it is a great way for students to learn and practice their craft.

"It is a good opportunity for our students as well to interact with people. We have our cosmetology students here who are offering their services as far as manicures, we have our health technology students who are giving health screenings.  So it is a good experience to work with the public and just to enjoy the opportunity," says Stacy Snyder the Public Information Coordinator for Mid East.

Students and faculty also gave presentations on how to get cars winter ready and the electric riding lawn mower created by students. This is the fourth year the senior center and mid east have teamed up for the "Senior Citizen Fall Luncheon".

"We have some that have been here every year and they love the event and actually when I called the senior center to set a date they said we have had people asking about this, so they look forward to it and really have a good time," says Snyder.

Snyder says students were excited to showcase their work and the senior citizens love getting the special treatment for a day.
