People were lining up Sunday afternoon for a hot lunch to benefit local charities.
The 13th annual Souper Bowl Benefit Luncheon hopes to raise thousands for six local non profits.
“It was put together by Dr. David Klein and Bill Factor and they had two goals. The first goal was to bring local churches together to work on a common project and the second was to raise money for local non profit organizations in the community,” says Co-Chair Marcy White.
The Souper Bowl Benefit Luncheon served a record 933 meals. Sixteen churches and twelve business helped sponsor the event and more than 75 volunteers served food and drinks. The past twelve Souper Bowl Benefit Luncheons combined have raised more than $100,000 for local charities.
“As we all know the need is up in the community with the job layoffs and the economy and the local non profits are struggling a little bit with funding so we are hoping that the monies we raise today will benefit the local non profits that are serving those in need in our community,” tells White.
