The United Way might be only half-way through their campaign season, but the early numbers look good.
Meg Deedrick of the United Way of Muskingum, Morgan, and Perry counties says the campaign won’t wrap up until the end of winter, but they are pleased with the results so far.
"Less than 10% of our campaigns are reporting, but we are encouraged," she said. "Of the campaigns that have been reporting, 42% are up as opposed to 28% that are down. We’re encouraged by that statistic and we’re hoping to see that continue through the fall."
Deedrick said people have utilized the United Way as a way to make their voice heard.
"We’ve also found that people are finding creative ways to incorporate United Way giving into activities that are already enjoyable, that they’re already doing," she said.
Deedrick said local organizations such as the Jaycees are teaming up with the United Way to raise money. That event will take place November 7th at Buffalo Wild Wings in Zanesville.
