One woman is sent to the hospital after an accident in downtown Zanesville.

It happened around 5 p.m. in front of the John McIntire Library.

Lieutenant Tony Courey says a woman was traveling northbound on 6th Street when she struck a parked car in the right lane.

"She hit it hard enough to cause it to get sideways and then turnover, " says Courey.

Courey says the accident caused heavy damage to both cars and the driver was injured.

"She was taken to the hospital with some minor facial injuries, but we don’t believe it’s life-threatening, " says Courey.

Courey says charges against the driver are pending. The accident remains under investigation.
