Applebees is offering a free meal to veterans that started at lunchtime and will continue through dinner hours.

It’s the second year the restaurant chain has prepared a special meal for the men and women who have served our country, and General Manager, David Jacobs, says that lines have been out the door all day.

"It’s amazing how much food. Today, we’ve already served about 3,000 customers. Believe it or not, we’ve already gone through about 500 pounds of steaks and 400 pounds of chicken just today alone, " says Jacobs.

Applebees expects to serve about 7.2 million customers across the country.

Jacobs says the restaurant-chain just wanted to give something back for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for us.
