The Zanesville Concert Association is giving area fourth grade students the chance to listen to and to learn more about music.

12 hundred students from all over Muskingum County packed Secrest Auditorium this morning to hear sounds from the Brass Band of Columbus.

"Music is so important to our students. It’s a big part of life, and understanding, learning something about the arts and music, we think is a very necessary part of growing up, " says Zanesville Concert Association Former President, Paul Shannon.

The musicians even took time to demonstrate what it takes to play some of the instruments.

"We think that will generate interest among the child and say geez, I can do that someday. Then they pick up music, take lessons, and start to become a real good musician in life, " says Shannon.

Shannon says music can also inspire a more positive attitude among students that helps them with their studies.
