A woman is in the hospital after her car was struck by a semi- tractor trailer.

New Concord Fire Chief, Brent Gates, says the driver of the Nissan Passport was turning left into Dominoes on State Route 83 when she was clipped by the semi. He says it appears the driver of the truck was traveling too fast and tried to swerve to miss her, but it struck the driver’s side of the Nissan.

"Moved her around the highway a couple hundred yards, we transported her to Southeastern Ohio Medical with non-life threatening injuries.  She is pretty banged up and the truck driver refused treatment," says Chief Gates.

The woman was the only occupant of the car. State Route 83, just off the I-70 East New Concord exit was down to one lane for about 45 minutes. New Concord Fire Department, EMS and Police responded.
