The race for U.S. Senate makes an early stop in Zanesville Thursday.

Republican Candidate Tom Ganley is making his way around Ohio campaigning. The Cleveland car dealer says he’s a business man and knows how to create jobs.

"I have a number of plans for creating jobs and they are unique and novel being a small business man from Northern Ohio and employing well over 1,000 people I have been in business for almost 42 years. I’ve made a pay roll every week for 42 years and I know how to create jobs. I started in business with 10 or 12 people and today it’s well over 1,000 so that’s creating jobs," Tom Ganley Said.

Ganley will face Republican Party endorsed Rob Portman of Cincinnati in the may primary. The winner will run in the general election for the seat being vacated by U.S. Senator George Voinovich, who is retiring. The Democratic primary will feature Lt. Governor Lee Fisher against Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.
