Thanksgiving turkey and football seem to go hand in hand.

Saturday’s Turkey Bowl had 12 local teams competing to play in the championship game tomorrow. The Turkey Bowl is put on by the Avondale Youth League and all the proceeds go toward it’s Christmas Fund. The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office is one of the teams. Sheriff Matt Lutz says he has great athletes on his team, so it should be a competitive game.

"It is a great event and nice fundraiser and we are just going to go out there and give our best and give them a good game," says Sheriff Lutz.

Sheriff Lutz is channeling his inner quarterback to take his team to victory. He says the event had a great turn out, especially since it is the Turkey Bowl’s first year.

"It is a lot of fun.  The guys getting together on the weekend and everybody here likes football, we play fantasy football on the computers, we watch football at home and this just gives us a chance to get back out on the field and be sore the next day," tells Sheriff Lutz.

The Turkey Bowl raised around $2,000. The championship game will be tomorrow at 1:30 PM at Maysville High School.
