The season of giving is upon us, but Christ’s Table Executive Director, Gretchen Sayre, says not as many people are willing to donate their time to help those in need, and she says the need is out there now more than ever.
"With the job losses we’ve had in Muskingum County and surrounding areas, we are seeing a peak influx of our guests coming in. We’re thankful that we’re able to provide a meal for them, " says Sayre.
Christ’s Table plans to cook about 30 turkeys this Thanksgiving with other side dishes and desserts. It does have some helping hands with the cooking and serving, many of whom are younger.
"I think that’s something that has started in the last couple years. I have a lot of parents saying I want my kids to learn there’s people less forunate than we are, " says Sayre.
Sayre says organizations, like Christ’s Table, are only asking you to donate a couple of hours out of your day to help.
For those of you planning on eating your meal at Christ’s Table Thursday, volunteers are serving from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 in the afternoon.
