Christmas spirit is alive and well in New Lexington.

About 300 people packed into the St. Rose Parish Community Center to take part in the Perry County Community Club’s "25th Annual Toys for Tots Auction," and there were about 280 items for people to bid on.

"It’s all thanks to the people of this great community of Perry County. The businesses and the individuals that give and donate to it really make this event worthwhile, " says Perry County Community Club President, Chad Winegardner.

Winegardner says the event raised about 43 thousand dollars last year, and the group hopes to top that amount this year. He says the money will be used to buy area kids toys and clothes for christmas.

"If we don’t provide for them, they’re probably not going to get anything, " says Winegardner.

Winegardner says it’s important for every child to have a Christmas.
