Tis the season for holiday celebrations.

Downtown Zanesville is preparing for many events throughout the month of December. Wednesday the Festival of Trees and Miracle on Main Street start the holidays downtown.

"It’s a great way for people to get out of their cars in downtown Zanesville, walk around, see all the different businesses," said Downtown Association Manager Dana Matz. "We have businesses participating from 3rd to 7th streets and from the Welcome Center to South Street."

The Miracle on Main starts at 6:30 Wednesday at the courthouse. President of Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Tom Poorman says the Festival of Trees is gearing up. It will kick off Wednesday at 5 p.m.

"Today is set up day," said Poorman. "Everyone is bringing in their entries and as you can see, setting up all kinds of trees, wreaths, stockings and other Christmas items. It’s shaping up to be a really strong year for the Festival of Trees."

Poorman says the auction total for the Festival of Trees is always hard to predict, although this year there are about 25 more entries. He says matching last year’s total is their goal.
