A 78-year-old man is sent to the hospital after a one car accident in Zanesville.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says Charles Root of Columbus was getting off an Interstate 70 ramp, when he went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail. Root then proceeded to cross both lanes of US 40 before striking an embankment.

Root was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. His passenger, 68-year-old Myrna Dnider, did not sustain any injuries from the crash.

The Zanesville Post says Root was not cited because the incident was brought on by a medical condition.
