The RESPONSE Victim Assistance program is celebrating its 20th anniversary and the public is invited to attend.
On Wednesday December 30 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. they will hold an open house in their office at 1175 Newark Road in Zanesville.
Director Janie Malloy says she hopes people coming to the celebration will learn about the services RESPONSE can
offer to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
"Unfortunately abuse is on the rise, that there are services out there for people in need and that feel scared and have no where else to go," says Malloy.
RESPONSE helps around 16 victims from Muskingum and Perry counties each year. A recent $500 donation from Sons of Legion Squadron 29 will help them continue to provide help to victims.
"So that the victim’s in an abusive situation and has to leave that we can take that money we raised or donated to give back to that victim to get to a safe housing situation or get legal services," she says.
You can help RESPONSE by donating your old cell phone, which will be given to victims allowing them to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency. For information on where to drop of your old phone call 454-6001.
