Thanks to our generous community a lot of children are going to have presents to open on Christmas. Captain Ralph Campbell with the Salvation Army says he expects around 1,400 families, and possibly more. He adds that it’s amazing that this community even in tough times people are willing to give.
Today at the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Toy Giveaway one mom Marinda Czignas’s was thrilled to be able to give her 7-year -old son a bike.
"He said I’m asking Santa for a skateboard and a bike," Marinda Czignas said.
Szignas says her son will be the most excited about the bike.
She says this is a great program because there are a lot of kids out there that don’t get anything for Christmas because their parents can’t afford it.
"It helps them out so much. To make a child happy on Christmas I think that’s what it’s all about," Czignas said.
She said her son got a lot he besides his new bike he got three toys, five stocking stuffers, a new outfit, pair of shoes, a coat, hat, gloves, and a scarf.
"It makes me feel so happy that he can actually have something that he really really wants that I can’t afford to get him for Christmas. I mean it makes me almost wanna cry that the community can reach out and help people that much," Czignas said.
The Salvation Army plans to give away more than a thousand toys today. Captain Campbell says it’s such a blessing to see and be a part of generosity in this community.
