Tuesday’s new rule banning texting while driving for commercial truck and bus drivers could be the first step toward a national ban.
Ohio State Representative Troy Balderson says the state is working on several different pieces of legislation to ban texting while driving throughout Ohio.
"There are four pieces of legislation that are out there right now," said Balderson. "Some that ban texting while driving and some that ban cell phone use. Theis is the one having the hearings–House Bill 270 in regards to texting while driving."
Balderson said since the legislation is still in the early stages, it may be some time before it is finalized.
He said he will be passing out a survey to some within his district asking their opinion on the subject.
