Zanesville Police say a 13-year-old student brought a knife to school this week and now could be facing charges. Detective Sergeant Ric Roush says it happened Tuesday afternoon at Roosevelt Junior High School just before 12 O’clock. Roush say Zanesville Police Department School Resource Officer Sandy McElhaney was told that a student had been observed in a classroom with a knife. A substitute teacher took the knife away from the student without incident and contacted the principal. The student, whose name was not released, was suspended for 10 days and faces expulsion. McElhaney will meet with the County Prosecutor to see if criminal charges will be filed.
