If you are looking to spruce up your yard this year, adding a few trees may be the answer.
The Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District is holding its annual tree seedling sale. There are 19 different types of trees available. The sale is on a first come, first serve basis and officially ends February 26th. Forest Resource Specialist, Clayton Rico, says helping the environment is not the only reason people plant the tree seedlings.
"People come in just to dress up their house a little bit, it could be for plant landscaping or whatever," says Clayton Rico.
The tree seedlings range in price from $6-$19 or a person could buy a pre-packaged group of 25 tree seedlings. Rico says either way, it is a great deal.
"You go to a local school you are going to pay probably triple what you pay here. You get the containerized pots that are grown six or seven years before they are sold, these are only 1 to 3 year old trees so the cost is significantly less, less than a dollar per tree," tells Rico.
Tree shelters are also for sale to keep your trees safe from deer as they grow. Rico says he is happy to help anyone find the right type of tree for their property. To order a tree seedling call the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District at (740) 454-2027.
