One local group raised thousands of dollars and now they are giving it right back to the community.
The Muskingum County Community Foundation has raised $33,000 for their annual grant competition.
"We will be giving out or have enough money to give out $33,000 in grants to community organizations. We have organizations such as schools none profits youth groups you have to be a non profit organization to apply for funding," Jamie Hoover Director of Communications said.
The Community Foundation raises money to give back to our town and make a difference. This year they want to focus on education and community recreation.
"They decided on education and community recreation for the past couple of years because they feel that those are two of the biggest needs in Muskingum County. They feel that we really need to continue to support education and there is always a need for youth and for other people to have recreational opportunities in Muskingum County," Hoover said.
Hoover said it’s just another opportunity to support and give back to the people in our area. She said the money helps the non profit group fund a project. The deadline to submit an application is March 12th. Then the committee will review the applications and decide who will not only receive the grants but how much they will get as well.
