The Zanesville City Schools Hall of Fame Committee is naming its 2010 inductees.
It’s a very diverse group that ranges in age, gender, and profession.
About 100 individuals were nominated but there’s only 10 inductees. It was a decision that committee chairman, Brian Kaufman, says was difficult to make.
"It’s a very challenging task because again, this is only the third year that the Hall of Fame has been in place and Zanesville City Schools has been around for more than 100 years. So, we’ve got a lot of catching up to do, " says Kaufman.
Kaufman says it’s important for Zanesville City Schools to recognize these individuals because it encourages students.
"When you see the accomplishments that these ladies and gentlemen have accomplished-they have been educated or done some great things for Zanesville City Schools-it makes you stop and think as a student, ‘Hey, I can do great things too,’ " says Kaufman.
The induction ceremony will take place at Roosevelt Middle School on May 8th.
If you would like to purchase a ticket, you can do so starting April 2nd by contacting the Zanesville City Mayor’s Office. It is $25 a piece.
