The Mayor of Caldwell has resigned after only three months on the job.

According to Caldwell Village Clerk Connie Bunting, Mayor Robert Watson turned in his official resignation yesterday, cited that his last day as Mayor was March 15th.

In his resignation Watson said he believes it is in the best interest of the village, his family and himself to resign. Watson started his term as Mayor December 15, 2009, after he was elected to fill the position when Willard Radcliff stepped down.

Bunting says Village Council President Daniel Shaw will take over duties as Mayor. She says it is likely they will have to hold a special meeting to decide who will permanently serve out the rest of the term, which expires in 2011.
