You’ll notice a lot of emergency personnel around the East Pointe Industrial Park area March 17th, but don’t panic, it’s just a drill.

It’s all part of a statewide event that will include a hazardous chemical spill and ice storm.

"In the drill status we will be having an auto accident with hazardous material up in the East Pointe Drive area. So we will then on top of the snow emergency we will be doing a hazardous materials incident in that area tomorrow morning," Director Bo Keck said.

This is a planned drill and signs have been posted telling the residents in the area what to expect.

"There will be some simulated evacuations we’ll be doing and so forth there will be a lot of emergency equipment out here in this area and we’re going to do our best to notify everyone," Keck said.

Keck said they will not be asking people to leave their homes. It all about practicing and the state will review and talk with local officials about mistakes that are made.
