Eyemart Grand Opening

There’s a new company open for business in the old Blockbuster building, located on Maple Avenue in Zanesville.

Eyemart held its grand opening and invited some local officials to take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning. Mayor Howard Zwelling says he’s attended a number of ribbon cutting ceremonies in the past two months, and despite the bad economy and city budget crunch, these businesses are bringing something positive to the city of Zanesville.

"Other mayors I talk to would like to have one of these 10 things, just one. They don’t have anything going on a lot of communities, " says Zwelling.

Eyemart is adding seven jobs to the city, and employees say they want to offer a service to local residents who may not have the money to pay for the eye care they need.

"They’re normally used to spending 300, 400, 500 dollars for glasses. Now, we try to keep it as low as we can as far as getting them out the door for 100, 150 dollars. Everybody loves saving money, " says Home Office trainer Dane Zwell.

The company is also leasing part of its building to a local optician for people to get eye exams.
